INDOCHINA FILM ARTS FOUNDATION (IFAF)

Bridging the gulf between creative expression and social action, the Indochina Film Arts Foundation (IFAF) organizes cooperative projects in the fine arts, theatre and film. Founded in 1991, this not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization fosters exchanges between the peoples of the United States and Southeast Asia identifying, encouraging, and connecting creative voices in both worlds.

The violent history of war and intervention in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia remains a living part of the culture of these countries, and of America. The impact of this legacy continues to be especially relevant in light of current events. IFAF, through its programs and collaborations with other arts and educational organizations, articulates the consequences of ongoing conflict and provides perspectives on possible cultural solutions.

The Foundation's forward-looking mandate seeks an improved, collaborative future through practical programs that facilitate artistic endeavors and cultural activism. Specifically, the Foundation makes efforts to increase awareness by bridging gaps between national origins, genders and generations.

IFAF was founded by filmmaker-artist Tiana (Thi Thanh Nga). Tiana has been filming throughout Vietnam and Southeast Asia since 1988, creating visual diaries that offer a contemporary record of both history and change in these cultures. Her critically acclaimed 1993 documentary From Hollywood to Hanoi was honored at numerous film festivals and remains an important contribution to scholarly discourse.

IFAF's co-founder is Academy Award-winner Oliver Stone, and its board of directors includes prominent figures in the film industry, government, education, and entertainment communities. Through the Board's guidance, IFAF has sponsored film projects, educational workshops, lectures, and even medical aid programs, through the generous support of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF).

Indochina Film Arts Foundation is a publicly supported not-for-profit organization that derives its funding from grants and donations. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by the law. The foundation continues to seek funding for its current projects.
